With a striking expanse of yellow-walled, red-roofed Chinese-style structure, the China’s first Shaolin Temple in Africa, has nestled in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital.
The Shaolin Temple in Zambia’s first major event was the African Shaolin Kung Fu Games in 2023, which attracted over 150 contestants from 23 African countries and regions to jointly promote the sport on the African continent and promoting cultural exchanges.
The temple is offering a unique opportunity for locals to learn and immerse themselves in Chinese culture. It also serves as a place for visitors from other regions to explore and experience the rich traditions of Shaolin.
Yan Lun, the headmaster of the temple, said the objectives of the project include teaching Shaolin Kungfu, Chinese culture, helping understand the African culture as well as enhancing the China-Africa friendship.
