China insights: A medical professional's perspective on GBA growth and high-quality development
: :

Q1. What are your views on the future development of the Greater Bay Area?

A: We are now seeing an the increasing number of medical practicing in Hong Kong applying for the practice in the Greater Bay Area. We also see the great number of medical establishments from Hong Kong medical groups from the Greater Bay Area, For example, training of family practitioners in the Greater Bay Area. We see positive development to enhance the flow of medicines as well as medical device between Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area. There is also increasing number of medications and medical device now been approved after a relatively simple registration or occupation process to be used in this area. Looking ahead, we’ll be doing more in terms of enhancing the bidirectional interflow of human resources in the health services area between Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area. For example, the hospital authority has introduced a lot of medical workers from Greater Bay Area to participate in the actual frontline work of Hong Kong public hospitals.

Q2. Any suggestions on "People-to-People Connectivity" project of the Belt and Road Initiative?

A: Yes, indeed. Through my working experience in GX Foundation which is a project approved by the central people’s government and it’s a nongovernmental organization registered in Hong Kong, basing on Hong Kong’s extensive experience in the governance of NGO as well as the backup services provided by the professionals in Hong Kong such as accountants, legal, services etc. I think we are in the strong position to use the NGO systems in Hong Kong to pair up with the medical strengths and other resources from mainland to work in the Belt and Road countries to enhance the People-to-people connectivity.

Q3. Any suggestions on high-quality development?

A: I can use examples to illustrate my views on the high-quality development, because in the past 20 years we see extensive progress in Hong Kong in the development of Chinese medicine. The next step we want to make use of the strength of Hong Kong in terms of the recognized international standard that we are having in the area of medicine, and especially in the area of Chinese medicine, medicinal material standard to pair up with our strength in the area of international commerce and trading. //We hope to see more international recognition of our right in terms of setting standards in Chinese medicinal materials as well as in the holding the quality assurance in this area. We hope to ensure that our right in setting standard for traditional Chinese medicinal materials as well as our strength in position of Chinese medicine services being more recognized by the international community.
