Hong Kong prepares to dazzle art lovers this summer as the Chinese Culture Festival returns for its spectacular second edition from June to September 2025. Transforming the city into a dynamic cultural stage, the festival will present over 280 captivating events spanning music, dance, and multimedia arts, with an anticipated audience exceeding one million visitors.                                                   

A Grand Opening: Poetry in Motion                                                                     

The festival launches with "Dongpo: Life in Poems," a breathtaking production by the China Oriental Performing Arts Group, directed by the internationally acclaimed Shen Wei. This visionary performance reinterprets classical Chinese poetry through contemporary artistry, merging timeless elegance with avant-garde expression.  

A Symphony of Opera Traditions                                                          

Opera aficionados are in for a treat with the Chinese Opera Festival, showcasing six distinctive regional styles. From the refined melodies of Kunqu to the lively drama of Cantonese opera, the lineup promises unforgettable performances. The segment kicks off with an exclusive premiere—"Cession for Consolidation of the Song Regime" by the China National Peking Opera Company, a masterpiece of storytelling and musical grandeur.  

Spotlight on Xi’an: Echoes of an Ancient Capital                                                                          

This year’s City in Focus celebrates Xi’an, the historic heart of China that shaped thirteen dynasties. The festival honors its legacy with powerful Qinqiang opera performances, including the moving classic "Zhou Ren on the Way Home" by the Xi’an Performing Arts Group’s Youth Experimental Troupe, blending raw emotion with theatrical brilliance.

Beyond performances, the festival invites visitors to explore China’s living traditions through interactive tea culture exhibitions, artisan workshops, and multimedia installations.
