The famed Shenwan pineapple—Zhongshan’s golden treasure—is back in season, luring food lovers and curious travelers alike for a juicy, hands-on farm adventure.  

Celebrated for their explosive sweetness, succulent flesh, and melt-in-your-mouth texture, Shenwan pineapples have long been a gourmet favorite. With harvests running from April to November, these tropical gems have transformed into agritourism stars. Local growers are doubling down on innovation, breeding exciting new varieties and hosting lively events—turning the spiky fruit into a powerhouse of rural revitalization.  

At one bustling plantation, visitors marvel at over a dozen cutting-edge pineapple breeds, like the tropical ‘Honey Aroma’ (infused with mango-like notes) and the decadent ‘Sugar Bliss,’ boasting a sky-high brix level of 24-26. Nearby, a family-friendly farm buzzes with laughter as 100+ parents and kids dig into pineapple planting workshops before baking buttery pineapple buns. “We’ve pivoted from just farming to creating memories,” shares the manager. Today, tourism—think guided tours, entrance tickets, and quirky pineapple snacks—dwarfs traditional sales.  

And the village isn’t stopping there: wider parking lots and picturesque walkways are rolling out to welcome the growing crowds, ensuring every visit is as smooth as a ripe Shenwan pineapple.
