China’s famed Jiaolong crewed submersible, a deep-sea pioneer capable of plunging to staggering depths of over 7,000 meters (23,000 feet), has triumphantly wrapped up a rigorous month-long trial following a major upgrade—proving its readiness for more frequent and demanding missions.  

Between February 27 and March 25, the revamped Jiaolong showcased its newfound agility, completing an impressive 14 dives in just 10 days—including four instances of double dives in a single day. These high-stakes tests not only demonstrated the submersible’s enhanced endurance but also confirmed the reliability of its cutting-edge, domestically upgraded components.  

This breakthrough in high-frequency, high-performance diving marks a giant leap in Jiaolong’s operational prowess, paving the way for even more ambitious deep-sea expeditions. With its upgrades now battle-tested, the submersible is gearing up for a record-setting 80+ dives in 2025—promising a thrilling year for marine exploration.
