On February 12th, the Lijiang Snow Mountain Sightseeing Train—the world’s first independently developed panoramic mountain tourism train—officially began operations in Lijiang, Yunnan Province. Departing from the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Tourist Service Center, the 20.7-kilometer route traverses popular destinations such as Baisha Ancient Town, Yushui Village, and Dongba Valley, concluding at Ganhaizi Xuechuan Tourist Port.  The scenic 35-minute journey offers travelers a seamless connection to the region’s cultural and natural highlights.  

Innovative Features for Immersive Views

The train’s standout innovation lies in its 1.9-meter-tall electrically tinted windows, designed to provide passengers with panoramic vistas of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the shimmering Pearl Lake, and dramatic canyon landscapes—all while filtering harmful UV rays. The interiors blend modern comfort with cultural authenticity, featuring traditional Dongba script motifs and art inspired by the Naxi ethnic group, celebrating Lijiang’s rich heritage and natural splendor.  

Engineered for Comfort and Accessibility

Specially designed for mountainous terrain, the train ensures a smooth, stable ride even on steep gradients and during deceleration. Its spacious cabins allow passengers to move freely, making it an ideal option for families with elderly members or young children.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, celebrated as one of the world’s most stunning “urban snow mountains,” attracts millions of visitors annually. Previously accessible only by road, the area frequently faced traffic congestion during peak seasons. The sightseeing train now offers a sustainable, efficient alternative, alleviating road traffic pressure and providing travelers with a scenic, stress-free transportation option.
