Recently, at Daye Lake in Huangshi, Hubei province of China, fishermen worked together, hoisting nets to reveal hundreds of lively silver and bighead carp splashing out of the water. Baskets of fish were hauled up, loaded onto trucks, and transported across the country.

The highlight of the event was the first catch of the year—a 33-kilogram fish—which drew eager bidders and was sold for an impressive 8,888 yuan.

This year’s winter fishing festival not only featured a hands-on fishing experience but also introduced a New Year fish market. Visitors could try their hand at fishing, enjoy the thrill of the harvest, and explore the market for fresh and tasty offerings.
