Envision a motion picture that not only shatters sales records but also remakes an age-old legend. This is "Ne Zha 2"!

Following its January 29 release in mainland China, the Chinese animated film "Ne Zha 2" has taken the box office by storm. The film has been drawing in huge audiences, with demand for tickets that has resulted in many sold-out shows. In its first 12 days of release, the film earned over 1 billion USD, breaking the record for the single-market box office that Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" had previously set. It is now the first non-Western film to achieve this level of success.

The film features more than 10,000 captivating visual effects elements contributed by 138 animation studios across China during the 5-year production journey, underscoring China’s impressive post-graduate animated filmmaking capabilities. At its heart, the film is a reimagining of the ancient Chinese mythic tale of Nezha, a by-no-means-average rebellious youth in ancient China, whose journey of growth and self-discovery exudes all the right flavors of traditional Chinese culture, and yet is as relatable to the universal contemporary experience as any personal growth tale is likely to get.

The film's outstanding global standing almost immediately attracted worldwide attention and acclaim. In the United States, as well as in countries across the equator, people were buying up tickets well in advance of the official premiere.

The PC game "Black Myth: Wukong," a made-in-China product, achieved one of the top-grossing positions among the world's PC games last year. This year, "Ne Zha 2" is considered likely to shatter even more international market records than its predecessor. Chinese movies, TV series, and traditional Chinese cultural games seem on a winning streak, raking in more and more international attention and acclaim.
