Guangdong Museum has unveiled its most dazzling exhibits at ‘Lingering Gaze: Curated Art Collections from the 16th to 20th Century’ which will be showcased until June 2nd. The exhibition displays nearly 400 pieces of remarkable treasures from 16 museums and art institutes around the world, showing the evolution of jewelry and adornment over the past five centuries.
One of the most striking treasures in the exhibition, is Princess Thyra of Denmark's Sapphire Tiara. This exquisite crown was a gift from King Frederick VIII and Queen Louise of Denmark to their daughter on her 18th birthday, with 5 sapphires and plenty of diamonds on it, which is a dreamlike symbol of royal elegance and feminine grace. The crown is placing at the entrance of the exhibition, to stun visitors in the first second.
Another enchanting item is the necklace designed by luxury jewelry brand in 1950, the large removable emerald pendant on the diamond frame is fairly bright and clear, like crystal, set off by abundant ruby, diamond and onyx.
Chinese luxury jewelry are also available in the exhibition. This Kingfisher craft phoenix crown was belonged to a Qing Dynasty princess, accompanied the princess to Mongolia upon her marriage. Kingfisher craft is an elaborate ancient fine craft for jewelry making from China, that shapes the golden frames into specific forms, usually phoenix or birds, and then decorates with kingfisher feathers.
