Aging population has been increasing the demand for decent elderly amenities and services in Hong Kong.  Recent launch of a cross-boundary elderly care service standardization pilot project by Nansha free trade zone would be a good news for many Hong Kong retirees and their carers.

Aligned the elderly care service standards of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, the new initiative aims to offer higher quality care for seniors in the Greater Bay Area.  Now, enjoying 'Hong Kong-style elderly care' will be as convenient as visiting a local tea restaurant.

Nansha District Nursing Home is the first public institution in China to accept elderly residents from Hong Kong and Macau, whilst Nansha international branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has become part of Hong Kong’s 'Elderly Health Care Voucher Greater Bay Area Pilot Scheme,' allowing Hong Kong seniors in Nansha to use such vouchers to cover their medical expenses.

Mr. Ma Ying-piu, co-founder of Ensure Medical Care Company in Hong Kong, noted that mainland elderly care is more affordable than that of Hong Kong, providing peace of mind for those working in the mainland by offering reliable care for their parents without frequent travel.
