The luxury ‘ro-ro’ (roll-on/roll-off) passenger ship, Moby Legacy, with a capacity of 2,500 passengers, independently built by China for the Italian shipping company Moby, has set sail from Longxue Island in Nansha.

This ship, built independently by Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd., with  3,800 meters of vehicle lanes and a maximum displacement of over 70,000 tonnes, is one of the largest luxury ‘ro-ro’ passenger ships in the world. After delivery, it will operate on routes along the Mediterranean coast between Genoa, Olbia, and Livorno in Italy.

The Moby Legacy ship, measuring 237 meters in length, features 13 floors and is designed with 533 rooms. The upper floor area is about 16,000 square meters, of which 10,000 square meters are allocated for restaurants and leisure and recreational facilities for passengers. The interior decoration rivals that of luxury cruise ships, making it a ‘floating five-star hotel.’ The ship is designed to be environmentally friendly and equipped with an extremely low-power engine system.

According to Zhou Xuhui, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Shipyard International, the interior decoration of the Moby Legacy ship has achieved 100% localization from design to manufacturing and installation.
