China’s home grown submarine robot achieves breakthrough in deep-sea operations
: :

The first ‘made-in-China’ submarine cable-laying robot ‘Tarus’, has recently completed its first offshore construction task at an offshore wind farm in the waters off Guangdong coastline.  The submarine robot, developed by Sealien Robotics, a tech company in Nansha free trade zone of Guangzhou,  accomplished a major milestone which marks a significant step forward in the operational capabilities of China’s large scale intelligent submarine equipment.

Facing the challenging environment of the ocean, robots play a crucial role in deep-sea operations.  Ma Yiming, founder of Sealien Robotics, pointed out that supply of such robots relied heavily on imports previously.  With continuous and extensive research and development efforts, by now, Chinese companies have managed to master the key technologies for developing submarine robots domestically.

The ‘Taurus’ robot, entirely developed and produced domestically.  It is named after ‘Taurus’ which has a meaning of ‘endurability, stability, practicality and powerfulness’ .

Subsequent to its maiden operation in Zhanjiang of Guangdong, Robot Taurus has also successfully completed different tests and trials in the waters of Zhuhai, Nansha, and Huizhou in the Greater Bay Area of China.
