After seven years of construction, the highly anticipated Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge in Guangdong, China is set to launch on June 28th, heralding a new era of seamless connectivity for the commuters, particularly in Greater Bay Area. This 24-kilometer cross-sea link is poised to revolutionize the commute between Shenzhen and Zhongshan, reducing travel time from a cumbersome two-hour journey to a mere half-hour drive.
This significant infrastructure project will also help to streamline travel between Hong Kong and Zhongshan, offering a much-needed solution to the current transportation challenges faced by frequent travelers. The bridge's imminent opening has generated excitement among residents and businesses in the GBA, who eagerly anticipate the convenience and efficiency it will bring to their daily travel routines.
While the main road of the cross-sea link will fully operated by end of June, a feeder road linking Nansha’s free trade zone of Guangzhou to the bridge will be opened by November this year. By then, the traveling time between Nansha and Shenzhen will greatly be reduced to just 25 minutes.
The existing cross-sea links connecting the east and west sides of the Pearl River include Guangzhou’s Nansha Bridge and Dongguan’s Humen Bridge in the north, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge spanning the Lingdingyang (Lingding Channel) in the south. The completion of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge will mark the most vital link in the A-shaped transportation network of the GBA, making the transportation much more convenient.
