Wetlands provide habitat for thousands of species of aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals. Situated in the southeast corner of the Xixi National Wetland Park in Hangzhou, the National Wetland Museum of China has recently renovated and offers tourists a unique opportunity to appreciate the beauty of wetlands, delve into mysteries, and gain insight into the challenges and threats faced by the current ecosystem.

With an investment of RMB 300 million, the museum features a central theme of a 'green hill,' symbolized by the building enveloped in lush green vegetation.  Following months of renovation, the National Wetland Museum of China welcomed visitors with a refreshed appearance. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, the museum's architecture takes on the shape of a UFO and seamlessly blends with the surrounding hills, showcasing a distinctive and eco-friendly structure.

Through educational exhibits and interactive displays, visitors are encouraged to join the efforts in protecting wetlands and preserving the environment. Within the museum's exhibition hall, visitors can explore the characteristics and distribution of the five major types of wetlands in China, including coastal wetlands, swamp wetlands, lake wetlands, river wetlands, and artificial wetlands.

Wetlands are valuable for flood prevention, water quality improvement, shoreline erosion control, natural products, recreation, and aesthetics.
