Hong Kong’s transport network is about to get a major upgrade! The government has given the green light to the Northern Link (NOL) Main Line, a game-changing rail project that will bridge the Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line, stitching together the city’s transit network like never before. The NOL is rolling out in two phases: Phase 1 kicks off with the new Kwu Tung (KTU) Station, built above the existing Lok Ma Chau Spur Line. Phase 2 will lay down 10.7km of track, linking Kam Sheung Road (KSR) Station to KTU, with stops at Au Tau, Ngau Tam Mei, and San Tin—unlocking smoother commutes for thousands. With detailed planning locked in and early works already underway, the NOL is on track for completion by 2034. This isn’t just another railway—it’s the beating heart of the Northern Metropolis, forming a high-speed loop between the New Territories and Kowloon. The payoff? A massive time save: The trip from Kam Sheung Road to Kwu Tung will plummet from 60-80 minutes in peak traffic to a breezy 12 minutes—giving commuters back precious hours of their day. Next stop: The future!
