The panda economy in Hong Kong is buzzing with excitement! Last year, the central government gifted a new pair of giant pandas to Hong Kong. Just a few months later, at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park, Ying Ying has given birth unexpectedly to her panda babies. This has resulted in an unprecedented total of six pandas living right here in Hong Kong!
The baby panda meet-and-greet at Ocean Park is set for February 16, 2025, a little more than six months after the cubs' birth. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Chief Executive John Lee has proposed an event to name the newborns —a proposal that adds even more charm and delight to the community and enhances public connection with the panda babies.
In addition to the two giant panda cubs, visitors to Ocean Park can also see:
- Giant panda mother Ying Ying,
- Giant panda father Le Le,
- Giant panda cousins An An, and
- Ke Ke,
in the “Sichuan Treasures” enclosure.
Meet these wonderful animals face-to-face!
