The world’s No. 1 snooker player, Judd Trump, has made Hong Kong his official residence through the city’s Quality Migrant Admission Scheme. The initiative, announced by Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE), is designed to attract skilled people to the region. They can live and work in this global city without a prior job offer.
Trump's successful application shows that he is serious about putting down roots in Hong Kong, where he wants to pursue his career and bask in the local culture. He is following in the footsteps of fellow English snooker star and seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, who became a Hong Kong resident just two months ago through the same scheme.
A champion in 2019, Trump has taken 30 major titles during his run. He expressed his special love for Hong Kong, saying, "The food, the people, the buildings," are what led him to make the move. With his move, though, Trump isn't just making a personal choice. He is joining a surge of international talent relocating to Hong Kong.
