Hong Kong International Airport is poised to enhance its status as a vibrant hub with the announcement of a significant expansion for Airport City. This ambitious project, expected to be completed between 2026 and 2031, aims to transform the area into a premier destination for business, leisure, and entertainment.

The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) is advancing the Phase 2 development of AsiaWorld-Expo, which will feature Hong Kong's largest multi-purpose indoor arena, accommodating over 20,000 spectators, alongside expanded convention and exhibition facilities. This development will enable Hong Kong to host a greater array of world-class entertainment events and international trade activities, attracting visitors from the Greater Bay Area and beyond to experience the city's unique cultural vibrancy.

Additionally, the expansion will introduce a variety of indoor and outdoor leisure, cultural, and entertainment options along the coastlines of the airport island and Hong Kong Port Island. Plans include the creation of a Jet Fresh Market on Hong Kong Port Island, reinforcing the SAR’s role as a hub for high-end fresh foods from around the globe. A new sportainment complex will also be developed, blending innovative indoor and outdoor sports concepts for adventure and entertainment.

This transformative project is set to significantly enhance the travel and cultural experience at Hong Kong International Airport, making it a key destination for both local and international visitors.
