Tiger Chung, a Hongkonger whose passion for fashion began with childhood DIY projects, has made history as the first local winner of the 2024 Redress Design Award. His innovative collection features garments crafted from repurposed materials like discarded towels, curtains, socks, and even a sofa.
Redress, a Hong Kong-based environmental NGO, hosts this annual sustainable fashion competition to educate and inspire emerging designers on adopting eco-friendly practices, highlighting the pivotal role they can play in combating climate change.
Out of hundreds of global applicants, ten finalists, including Chung, were selected. In August, they traveled to Vietnam for a collaborative challenge, which Chung’s team won, followed by another round in Hong Kong.
