In celebration of National Day, Hong Kong will launch more than 400 celebratory activities during the National Day Golden Week and throughout October.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. A wide array of rich, diverse and creative celebratory activities will be held for citizens to share the joy of National Day.
On September 28, a ‘Galloping Horses’ drone show will light up the Wan Chai waterfront, showcasing local culture and celebrating National Day by recreating works by Chinese painting master Xu Beihong.
On the eve of National Day, September 30, the “Celebration of National Day - The Next Generation Chorus Performance” will take place at the West Kowloon Cultural District, featuring a drone show with a record-breaking 2,099 drones representing the year "2024" and the "75" for the 75th anniversary.
On National Day morning, the Hong Kong SAR Government will host a flag-raising ceremony and reception, followed by a large-scale fireworks display over Victoria Harbour that evening.
What’s more, on October 1, citizens can enjoy free rides on all passenger tram routes and select ferry routes. Passengers using Octopus cards on the MTR, Light Rail, and MTR Bus will receive a 25% discount, while children can ride designated daytime bus routes for free and enjoy free Citybus rides with electronic payment.
Throughout October, Victoria Harbour will host a special edition of the Symphony of Light, showcasing festive animations and celebratory messages.
