Good news for railway fans! Hong Kong's MTR Corporation has unveiled a refurbished train in the nostalgic red-and-white style of its first-generation carriages from 1979 to celebrate its 45th anniversary, which is sure to bring back fond memories for many Hongkongers.  

The 45th anniversary themed train consists of eight carriages, featuring two distinct themed compartments. Four carriages of the train named ‘Memories,’ showcasing a striking red stripe on a white front, with interiors adorned with classic 1990s fittings, including ball-shaped handholds and warm-toned lighting.  

Additionally, another four carriages, themed ‘Togetherness,’ highlight comic characters from ‘My Boy,’ popular in the 70s and 80s, revitalized by local artist Li Chi-tak to illustrate the evolution of Hong Kong’s railway.

The 45th Anniversary Themed Train will serve passengers on selected urban lines starting from today till the end of this year, offering citizens a nostalgic journey through Hong Kong's transit history.
