Hong Kong residents who are living in the mainland of China now have access to ‘Hong Kong-style’ medical services in Nansha of Guangzhou, thanks to the opening of the Guangzhou Nansha Xinxing Internet Hospital. This development allows residents from Hong Kong and Macao to receive professional diagnosis and treatment services online, as well as obtaining commonly used medications without returning to Hong Kong.

The hospital currently has nine registered doctors, and more will be joining. It offers a wide range of online and offline services, including emergency care and specialties like ophthalmology, general practice, internal medicine, gynecology, psychiatry, traditional Chinese medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and dermatology.

Dr. Lau Shun Tung, head of the Guangzhou Nansha Xinxing Internet Hospital, highlighted that advanced technology has allowed Hong Kong and Macao residents in the Greater Bay Area to seek consultation through the Hong Kong Doctors Digital Network App. Besides offline treatment, patients can receive at-home consultations via the app. This app, co-designed by doctors and technical experts, offers diagnosis and treatment services, drug traceability, and medical information sharing. Medications are delivered via SF Express from Hong Kong and Macao, typically arriving in Nansha within 1 to 2 days after diagnosis.

Dr. Lau also mentioned that Nansha's central location in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is highly advantageous. For developing internet medical and biomedical industries, Nansha has introduced innovative policies, such as prioritizing digital medical care in new technology applications.
