Thailand grants more travel convenience to Hong Kong passport holders with visa free entry extended from up to 30 days to 60 days.
According to John Lee, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, ASEAN is Hong Kong's second largest trading partner and there is significant potential for developing cooperation and trade ties. He mentioned plans to visit other ASEAN countries to strengthen these connections and expressed a hope for Hong Kong to quickly join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a free trade agreement that includes ASEAN and five Asia-Pacific countries, such as China, Japan, and Australia.
Hong Kong and Thailand have a close relationship in people-to-people and cultural exchanges for long. It is believed that this extension of the period of visa-free entry will bring greater travel convenience to holders of HKSAR passports and strengthen the tourism, cultural and economic ties between the two places.
