Vivian Kong of Hong Kong has won, in the final of the women’s individual épée competition, a historic Olympic title, which is the third gold Hong Kong has ever won at the Olympic Games.
Bursting into tears of joy, the Olympic gold medalist told the media, bearing Hong Kong’s ‘can-do’ spirit in mind, she had overcome the extremely high inner pressure of her own for not doing well in the past. She has been very grateful for her coach and supporting team for their unfailing professional and personal support all along.
This crowning achievement of Vivian Kong has not only brought her the world No 1 title, but also well demonstrated her resilience in battling back from many a deficit in her career, and overcoming ACL surgery in both knees.
