In commemoration of the 27th anniversary of its return to the mainland of China, Hong Kong comes alive with a vibrant array of festivities on July 1st, offering residents and visitors a day of celebration and exploration, from free rides on public transportation to complimentary museum visits and enticing dining discounts.
In terms of public transportation, kids aged three to 11 enjoy free rides on the MTR while light rail and MTR buses provide free services for all passengers on July 1st. Also, Fortune Ferry gives away 2,000 ferry vouchers. 1,000 vouchers are for routes going between Central and Hung Hom, while the other half are for the North Point-Kwun Tong-Kai Tak routes.
For those culture vultures, a wealth of complimentary admissions awaits. General admission exhibitions at M+ and thematic exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District welcome visitors at no charge. Additionally, citizens can revel in free entry to various leisure and cultural facilities managed by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, as well as the Hong Kong Wetland Park under the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department.
As for dining and consumption, the public can enjoy a 29% discount when purchasing designated products of the Fish Marketing Organization and the Vegetable Marketing Organization via the "Local Fresh" online store or mobile app from July 1 to 7. Various shopping malls and markets also roll out shopping or dining offers.
