Come and embark on a journey to deepen your appreciation for Chinese culture at the inaugural Chinese Culture Festival (CCF) in Hong Kong! Organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of Hong Kong government, the "Encountering Chinese Culture" festival has been rolling out a number of spectacular arts and cultural events from June to the end of September 2024.

For those who love performing arts or Chinese opera, two regional opera genres that are rarely seen in the city will be staged from June 21 to 22 in Hong Kong’s cultural icon, the City Hall, including North Road Bangzi opera and Liuzi opera. The North Road Bangzi opera hails from Shanxi province and is renowned for its lively tunes and spirited performances. On the other hand, Liuzi opera, originating from Shandong province in eastern China 600 years ago, is known for its dynamic movements and dramatic facial expressions. This unique opportunity offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and diverse performing arts traditions of China for Hong Kong audiences and tourists who love Chinese culture.

For Chinese arts lovers, another exciting highlight of the CCF is the 13-day exhibition titled ‘A New Era of Ink Painting in Hong Kong’ at the Hong Kong Central Library. Featuring works from 60 prominent ink artists and showcasing around 120 paintings, this exhibition, kicking off on June 18, will immerse visitors in the world of ink painting through keynote lectures, demonstrations, workshops, and guided tours. Also, thematic seminars will be held for audiences to explore the various modes of presentation of Chinese painting, the characteristics of contemporary ink painting, and the various possibilities of ink art.

With nearly 100 events and activities lined up, including captivating stage performances, interactive cultural booths, engaging story-telling sessions, and a mesmerizing Chinese music showcase, participants have the great opportunity to delve into the rich and diverse world of Chinese culture.
