The Countdown Fireworks come back by the midnight of December 31, 2023 and will be the longest ever New Year's Eve fireworks display so far. The Countdown starts 60 seconds before midnight while the facade of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will unveil a large countdown clock and features, the numerals "2024" and New Year blessings as the clock strikes midnight, signaling the start of vibrant fireworks.
You can practically watch the fireworks from just about viewing spots along the habour front but just make sure you set to one early as most public places will be packed.
Special traffic and transport arrangements for New Year's Eve covered Central, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui. Road closures start as early as 5pm. The MTR Corporation announced that local rail lines will operate overnight on New Year's Eve.
